Price is one consideration in selecting a Chicago personal trainer, but Craig Kastning of Chi Town Boot Camps makes it easy by offering free services for the first two weeks. A trial is the best way to get a feel for the facility and the individual?s training style. Each new member will receive free one-on-one nutrition counseling and two weeks of boot camp classes absolutely free of charge for this special January 2012 promotion.
?What people like about boot camp is that they receive individual attention, but it?s more affordable and more sociable,? Chicago Fitness Trainer Craig Kastning explains. ?In the first week of 2012, I?ve already converted a few exercise-phobic people to the boot camp way of life for good!? He adds that his program is really about keeping people committed long enough to form a fitness habit, which will lead to a healthy lifestyle in the long term.
?I know a lot of people come here just to lose their belly fat post-pregnancy, or to burn off their last stubborn 20 pounds,? Craig says, ?but I want to impress upon people that going back to a sedentary lifestyle and eating whatever they want once the weight has been lost just isn?t an option. Weight management is a lifetime effort.?
In addition to receiving Chicago gym trainer led boot camp workouts, new members also receive free nutrition counseling. ?Nutrition is 80 percent of the battle,? Craig says. ?If you want to lose weight, start in the kitchen. I want you to be as successful as possible, so I?m going to give you all the tools you need.? The nutrition advice does not include shakes or supplements, but rather, is based on a standard 1,200 ? 1,500 calorie diet that includes fruits, vegetables, lean protein, complex carbs, and low-fat dairy. ?It?s all common sense stuff, but it?s amazing how much easier it is to follow once it?s all spelled out for you in a daily meal plan,? Craig adds.
Some people worry that boot camp will be too difficult, but the Chicago fitness trainer reassures individuals that he offers a program for people from 18 to 80. ?I show variations for every exercise that will make it a little bit easier or a little more challenging, depending on how you?re feeling. It?s not a full hour of target heart rate insanity either. We do a lot of interval training, so it?s a few minutes up, and a few minutes recovering. This method burns more fat, revs up your metabolism, and gets the amazing results boot camps are known for.?
Many of these results are posted on there website, where people have lost anywhere from 10 to 100 pounds. The average boot camper sheds two pounds a week, but people with more to lose have been known to display even more astounding results. One mother-of-four shed 42 pounds in just 12 weeks. Another woman went from 28 to 14 percent body fat in three months. One man lost 30 pounds of fat and gained 10 pounds of muscle for a total physique transformation over a five-month period. Another man barely recognized himself after dropping 55 pounds in less than half a year. Making that call to a Chicago fitness trainer is the first step to achieving these inspiring results.

PEERtrainer.com founder and nutrition expert, Jackie Wicks, shares a controversial view on an old favorite regarding weight loss ? and this may raise a few eyebrows — portion control may be the culprit that is keeping people fat.
According to Wicks, ?It’s important to note that portion control is a critically important tool. Of course we want to be aware of the calories that go into our bodies — and for people just starting the weight loss process — portion control is something that must be learned and even mastered.?
Wicks adds, ?The problem with portion control is that people most often use it as their primary weight loss strategy. Because life is busy and most of us have a limited amount of things we can focus on, it often becomes the only strategy that people use.?
So why is society so focused on something that is not working?
According to Wicks, ?Probably because it sounds reasonable and sensible. It is also the advice we are likely to hear from our doctors and medical professionals. It’s what we, as a society, have learned. There are a lot of ways that we get programmed as individuals and this is definitely one.?
Wicks adds, ?Additionally, people portion control meat and animal protein. Now, based on all the available science, as well as the interpretation of the available research, we hear that we need to keep meat consumption to roughly 10% of calories. However, this does not take into account any difference in the quality of the meat source. Would it sound reasonable to you to suggest that a serving of poached Wild Salmon (natural food) is probably better for you than a hot dog (processed food)? Sure it does.?
Wicks concludes, ?I’d like to argue that not only is the singular focus on portion control not the answer, but it is likely a root of many of our nutrition problems. Not only does it promote the idea that any food is fine as long as it is eaten in limited quantities – but in my years of experience – portion control actually discourages people from eating the best foods in beneficial enough quantities.?

Find More What Is A Healthy Diet Press Releases

Toronto, Ontario and New York, NY (PRWEB) November 24, 2011
Precision Nutrition, the world?s leading online nutrition research and education company, today announced that its ground-breaking E-book ?Experiments in Intermittent Fasting? has gone viral, with more than 176,000 unique page views since its publication six weeks ago.
?The widespread interest and favorable comments are very gratifying. We really seem to have struck a chord, with sites all over the Web linking to the book or writing their own articles about it,? says Precision Nutrition Chief Science Officer Dr. John M. Berardi, who wrote the E-book along with co-authors Dr. Krista Scott-Dixon and Nate Green.
Intermittent Fasting (IF) is a new dieting trend that could help you lose fat quicker than ever, and get near-immediate results that traditional dieting doesn?t allow for.
Dr. Berardi is a leading nutrition scientist who has long advocated several small meals a days. But earlier this year he tried something very different: six months of experimenting with going without food for extended periods of time.
?I became intrigued with the idea that you could skip meals ? and sometimes entire days of eating ? without suffering lethargy, brain fog and muscle loss. Even more intriguing was the idea that you could accelerate body fat loss and get healthier with strategic, well-timed fasts,? writes Dr. Berardi in the E-book, downloadable from the Precision Nutrition website.
Dr. Berardi lost 20 pounds, reduced his body fat percentage from 10% to 4%, and concluded that IF can be an effective approach. But it?s not for everyone. IF is and advanced strategy for extreme leanness that should be attempted only after you?ve built a solid foundation in exercise and nutrition. For those who are obese, pregnant, have certain medical conditions, or have a history of disordered eating, IF may do more harm than good.
After reviewing the scientific literature and his own experiments in weekly, twice weekly, and daily fasting trials, Dr. Berardi points out that:
?Intermittent fasting is nothing new. Humans have fasted for most of their history, whether it?s during the typical overnight period, during more extended periods of food scarcity, or for religious reasons. What is new is that clinical research on IF?s benefits for health and longevity is beginning to catch up.?
?Data show that IF, when done properly, might help extend life, regulate blood glucose, control blood lipids, manage body weight, gain (or maintain) lean mass, and more.?
Dr, Berardi also points out that the most vocal IF advocates are new converts vehement about ?how much better? IF is. ?Like teenagers finding their voice, they?re a little too loud, overconfident, and anti-establishment. All because they were recently ?liberated? from the great oppressor: that rigid, frequent eating schedule they were told by some well-meaning nutrition expert to follow.?
Dr. Berardi takes a more nuanced and balanced approach. ?As always, each person is different. How much a person knows about nutrition, and how well they can apply that knowledge, plays a huge factor in my recommendations.”
Dr. Berardi writes: ?As the IF research program continues, I?ll be watching closely to see what happens when calorie-controlled, nutrient-dense, healthy IF diets are compared to calorie-controlled, nutrient-dense, healthy diets that don?t use extended fasts. Only when these studies are done will we really know whether the magic is in the IF ? or in improving food amount and food selection.”

The nutrition rock show Jump with Jill has reached 100,000 kids nationwide. This impressive milestone speaks to the show?s innovative approach to childhood obesity. Formatted as a kid-appropriate rock ?n roll concert with healthy eating choruses, Jump with Jill is an interactive live show that teaches nutrition through music and dance. The touring production has been performed over 600 times in the past four years. The program was developed by The Rockstar Nutritionist Jill Jayne, who is both a registered dietitian and musician. Kids can also rock out at home or in their parents? cars to the Jump with Jill soundtrack, Get Me Goin?.
?It?s time for health education to rock,” says Jayne. ”We know kids can remember commercial jingles, why not make learning about healthy habits as engaging and memorable? It?s imperative to sync our approach to health education with this media-centered generation if we hope to effectively and sustainably address childhood obesity.?
Along with the efforts of Jamie Oliver?s Food Revolution and Michelle Obama?s Let?s Move campaign, Jump with Jill and the Get Me Goin? CD address an urgent need to connect with kids when it comes to overall health, exercise and nutrition. Nationwide, 17 percent of kids are obese (BMI over the 95th percentile) and only one out of three kids meet basic fitness requirements. Kids spend nearly seven and a half hours per day consuming media, witnessing over 40,000 commercials per year, most of which encourage them to remain inactive and continue consuming. With all the noise, today?s media-savvy kids have become increasingly difficult to reach. Creator Jill Jayne uses the same tactics normally used to sell junk food to get kids engaged, moving and learning about healthy habits.
Both the CD and interactive show are productions of Note to Health, Jill?s company that specializes in creating and delivering interactive media about health to kids and families. Jill appears regularly in news outlets across the country, including Today’s Dietitian, NPR, The Washington Post and PBS. To learn more about the show, sample CD tunes or follow Jill?s blog, visit http://www.jumpwithjill.com .

So lets be honest with everyone. There isn’t really some fancy way to boost your metabolism. GASP!
Yes I know that sounds horrible that I said that. Metabolism boosting is kind of a catchall word for several things. For example the only way to ACTUALLY boost your metabolism is to gain more muscle or to alter your thyroid or hormones like leptin sensitivity, which is never a good idea. I know weight lifters who have gotten into trouble by taking thyroid meds to cut more.
So how can you really boost your metabolism?
You can hack your body and let you think that you’ve gotten some good ol’metabolic changes. For example regulate your sugar intake, one of the biggest problems with our bodies is that we get too much food and WAY too much sugar. When your body gets sugar it’s told to store it in fat if it goes beyond the regular blood sugar levels. Then you feel crappy because your insulin has taken all of the sugar and stored it into fat. YIKES.
So watch your sugar and next, eat smaller more frequent meals. Not because it boosts your metabolism but it gives your body a constant supply of energy and therefore maintains better blood sugar levels. From a holistic approach, it also provides perhaps more energy. We retain water when we aren’t getting proper water, so when you do start drinking water you can drop up to 10 lbs simply by drinking water.
Its kindof like a used car lot. When do you think a car lot would expand? When its making 100,000 a month or when it makes 5,000? Its kindof obvious, and when will it spend more on advertising and sales people and more stock? When it feels it has a healthy flow of cash. That maybe the best way to look at your body, frequent smaller meals gives the body the ‘paradise’ hack and you can really find your metabolism boost from there.
Of course there is a whole list of very delicious vegetables and herbs that can help your body. Some actually alter the way your genes react. yes I’m serious, and its completely crazy.
Have you ever seen these people on TV and commercials that talk about buying food items that are low-fat and high in nutrition? Would you like to get in on the newest healthy eating and nutrition craze. It is really not as difficult as it may seem at first. There are a few guidelines that you can follow to take the first steps to living a healthier life.
There are many websites out there that have healthy eating guidelines that you can read for free. If you are looking for a place to start your journey, this is it! It will give you all of the information that you will need to get started. It gives you eating and exercise plans that will start to ease you into the new lifestyle. It will also offer you guidelines to follow when eating out with friends. Even at those fast food restaurants you can not help but stop at sometimes. One thing you can do is stay away from fad diets and look closer at the healthy food pyramid.
Healthy cooking is another way to change your healthy eating and nutrition ways. There are many places to find recipes that actually taste good and are very good for you. The best thing to remember in every meal is balance and portion size. They say that if you buy smaller plates it does not make you obligated to fill up a big one.
The best types of meats to eat are your leanest ones. Usually fish is the best kind due to the fact that it not only is very lean, but it also has good vitamins and is high in omega fatty acids. The protein is on the high side as well. The other good lean meats are turkey, chicken, and pretty much any kind of poultry. It is always good to take off the skin. Don’t forget about the fruit nutrition facts of let say oranges and grapes, not to mention the acai berry. The vitamin c content alone is off the charts.
The truth about good and healthy eating and nutrition is that you can not change it overnight. It is a process that is more successful if done in steps. If you are really looking to change your lifestyle and if there is a drive and determination behind it you can make your life better. There is no better time like the present to start. Take a look at some of these healthy eating websites. I mean it wont hurt it can only help.
