im 15 weeks pregnant, i was doing so good on making sure i was eating healthy but as soon as i hit week14 i started eating like an out of control 1000 pound women. grilled chicken and veggies no longer sound good. i have been eating corn dogs and cup cakes. how do i get back to my healthy eating when it doesnt sound good at all? i still crave fruit but thats the only healthy thing i’ve been eating. its really important to me to eat healthy and i was a little overweight before getting pregnant so i want to keep my weight gain under control.

How about yogurt? Fruit was my major craving (they said that was a sign it would be a girl but they were WRONG!), so I found ways to work fruit into every meal. Yogurt and fruit, cereal and fruit, chicken with fresh pineapple, salads with fruit, fruit salads…it must have worked, because I only gained 25 lbs total, and I was a bit overweight to begin with, so I lost it all and then some when I gave birth. Another thing you might try is eat your fruit first, and wait a bit. If you’re still hungry, THEN have that corn dog.

Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy.

I would like to make more of a career out of Nutrition and Fitness, but am unsure of a good path. I would like formal training/certification, but not necessarily a 4-year degree since I’m in my late 20s and work full time now.

If I become a nutritionist, I don’t focus as much on fitness. If I become a personal trainer/instructor, I don’t get the training in proper diet. Any suggestions on what career or certification would be a good mix of nutrition and fitness?

As far as I know, neither Nutritionist nor personal trainer are protected terms, so all you need to do is make up business cards and you are in business.

However to be at the top of the heap, becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist should be your ultimate goal.

Im looking for a change in career and was thinking about some kind of role in sports fitness and sport nutrition and was wondering about a good college course / qualification would work well

Sports medicine, sports management

I never really work out and i also never tried dieting.
I would like to know what is the best way to start a good exercise routine and a dieting regimen?
I will admit i am not a healthy eater at all and I want to know what is good way to start eating healthier?

Hi Jessica,

Have you ever wondered how a celebrity can keep such a nice and tight body? Do you think they are just born that way and they are just a special person to look that good? Part of it is airbrushing in pictures and different camera angles on television, but a lot of it has to do with the way they diet. There is such a thing as the master cleanser diet and it is one of hollywoods secrets. Here is what you can expect from the master cleanser diet.

1. You will gain more energy than you ever though possible

You are going to get a huge burst of energy and more daily energy if you do a cleaning diet. This is due to all the toxins you will be flushing out of your body and all the garbage that will no longer be clogging up your colon. When you cleanse your colon you will allow your body to work properly and this will give you more energy because you will be wasting less energy on cleaning the garbage and storing it in your colon.

2. You will find more time in your days.

Sure this sounds strange, but when you have more energy you will require less sleep and you will be more productive. This means that things that used to take you an hour might only take you 45 minutes and those 8-10 hour nights of sleep will turn into 5-6 hour nights of sleep. This can greatly benefit anybody that could use an extra hour or two each day.

Fast food restaurants are everywhere. If you’re low on money and hungry, you have plenty of unhealthy options and you don’t even have to get out of your car. But if you want to eat healthy, it takes much more effort. Does anyone have a good tip about how to make a healthy eating routine easier to accomplish?

The problem with fast food restaurants for the most part is even the "healthier" choices aren’t that good. McDonalds uses Iceberg lettuce, the cheapest and lest beneficial kind.

On the road, try to find a Subway or Mr. Sub. A more economical choice (an healthier) is to keep a stock of healthy foods in your car or purse. Try keeping ready-to-eat cans of tuna, granola bars or even a box of cereal in your car.

For at home, it’s more than just what you eat, it’s how you prepare what you eat. Don’t fry your chicken, grill it. Buy lean cuts of meat, and eat less pork. Avoid bacon, but subsitute for chicken or turkey bacon. A great thing is grapeseed oil. It’s cheaper, healthier and better tasting than your regular olive oil.

The most important thing is to be motivated. Set a goal, write it down, put it on a post-it note on your fridge, and stick to it. Find your incentive and think about it before you eat. Lastly, always eat breakfast even if it’s a small one. It will boost your metabolism, as skipping breakfast for a year can result in more than 10 pounds of weight gain.

I know a lot of you will say look it up on the internet, but i have a lot and can’t find a website that actually teaches you stuff about nutrition. I am not in college yet I just recently got into high school i’m a freshman but i want to start learning early so i’m prepared and ready when it comes to college. I’m homeschooled right now, but planning to go back to school within the next year or two…so if you could give me a good helpful website it would mean a lot! thanks!

If you want to be a nurse you need to take nursing. While in nursing school they will cover nutrition.

Obviously abusing any drug will cause medical problems and perhaps death, but is creating safer steriods the next level of sports nutrition. It apparently works. (i.e. Ben Johnson’s performance; Barry Bonds performance)

I do not understand why people call it cheating. It is called gaining an edge. People say that everyone should be on the same playing field as far as not taking any supplements. With the money that is involved these days and the level of competition and not to mention the pressure and scrutiny these athletes are under to preform, it’s no wonder these guys try to give themselves an edge. If there was no competition between players and other athletes, then why do some spend time in the weight room? Why do they stay after to take ground balls? Why do they stay late to hit batting practice? The answer is to be better than the other person. It is the same thing as using a supplement. I do like the concept of steriods being controlled by officials or governement and can make it a safer substance, but who is to say when that is going to be.

I know a girl who has been dieting since she was 13 and still is (she’s probably around 15 now). What are the chances of her getting an eating disorder? I’ve heard that like 86% of girls who diet at that age end up with one, is that true? What statistics do you have/know? I really would like to warn her parents, especially since they see nothing wrong with her behavior. I’m not sure if she’s throwing up in a bathroom or anything like that, but she definately is watching what she is eating, eating foods marked "low carb", keeping track of how many pounds she has lost, and exercises for the benefit of weight loss. Also looks like she could use a vitamin if you know what I mean..
Thanks to all who help.

i’ve been dieting for a year and a half (since 13 1/2) and i dont have a disorder, maybe shes just trying to be healthy. talk to her before her parents. there could be something going on at home, eating is a bout self control, maybe if shes lost something she thinks regaining the ability to choose what she eats can bring things back into focus and get stability.
hope i helped

But i need some advice. I am not starting until the summer holidays as i have a lot of revision ahead of me. I am 16, so exams this year. So in summer i want to start healthy eating and an exercise regime, how can i do so. What exercises can i do to add variety and what are so healthy food swaps?

Got a link here for ya that is absolutely free. Has a ton of different types of workouts to choose from and advice on eating. Whether your goal is building muscle, losing flab or just getting generally fit the answers are here. Easier to send you here and let ya look around than to try and explain it all for you. Because while you have gotten a couple decent answers here so far, you WILL have more questions. Fitness can get really involved and the more you educate yourself the better it will be.

I am interested in these topics but I don’t know how I would apply them to a career. All careers that involve these areas are usually for a fitness trainer or nutrition consultant. What other careers are there? I just want to get out of office work.

Maybe you could work with FDA as a lab tech.
